Shopping Day

Today my Wife and I went shopping at Walmart, Smart food service and Goodwill I did a light coat of makeup, a foundation base, lower eyeliner, mascara, light pink lipstick. I did my own make-up with some final touchup by my wife. My hair is my natural hair, (no wig) that my wife and I have dyed blond. My outfit for the day was a pink top, jean shorts, and a light gray cover up top and aqua flip-flops. I was not really worried about “passing”, just wanted to look decent.

Our first stop was Walmart to do some general shopping, even tho it was not my first time going out in public dressed in feminine clothes, it is still somewhat intimidating, because you are wondering what people are thinking when they see you, and what the reaction will be towards you. Do they think you are a ugly girl? or why is that man dressed in female clothes? Or sometimes I wonder what they are thinking about my wife? Is she a lesbian? Why is she with him/her? All these things that I am sure that go through all our minds when we present as female or feminine out in public. I tend not to look at people in the face much, (which is something I should work on!) I just concentrate on our shopping or what ever we are doing. I also have my wife as my “safe place” if i start feeling insecure about myself.

For the most part the trip into Walmart was uneventful, I did get a couple of looks with no reaction, I was called Ma’am twice, once an employee and once by a customer, both times they wanted to go around me and said “excuse me ma’am” both in a polite manner. My wife and I shopped through several depts there including the womens and juniors clothing sections. we primarily look for the clearance racks. we have found some really cute clothing for very inexpensive The nice thing about going to a store dressed even a bit feminine or girly, no one is hardly going to notice.

Our next stop was a grocery store, while there a lady walked by and said to me “I love your shorts” (see pic) I said thank you and went on with our shopping. As we were leaving the store they happened to be parked right in front and sitting in their car, again said to us “where did you get them?” My wife then said to them that she had found them at Walmart a few years ago and had bought a couple of pairs but had not been able to find them since. we then started discussing how if you knew how to sew you could take a pair of shorts and sew a piece of lace around the legs openings to make them your own. After talking to them a few minutes we proceeded to our car and unloaded our groceries. As I was walking back to the truck another car backs out of a stall and comes fairly close to hitting me, not sure if they saw me or not and did it on purpose (didn’t like the way I was dressed?) I don’t know, I could not see them clearly. I looked at my wife tho and saw her giving them a dirty look and mouthing WT F . AS I got in our car, she asked me “What was their problem? and said she was ready to jump out and confront them. She will defend me and my Choices, but we will talk more about that in a later post. We talked about it for a minute and then let it go.

Our next stop was Goodwill. We ended up buying a few cute tops, 3 dresses and a couple of 2 piece swim suits and a couple of 1 piece suits. We could not try on anything in the store, because of this covid thing going on, but when we got home we did a little fashion show for each other with what we bought. We were happy with what we purchased and the way it fit All in all it was a fun day and a positive experience.
